Davis, P.E., <br />Public Works Director <br />Request for Establishment <br />Position - Coastal Engineer <br />June 30, 1993 <br />DESCRIPTION AND CONDITIONS <br />of New Staff <br />FILE: coastal.agn <br />During the June 24, 1993 Joint meeting of the Board of County <br />Commissioners and City of Vero Beach City Council, staff was <br />encouraged by both the City Council and County Commission to <br />proceed rapidly in implementing a coastal erosion prevention/beach <br />preservation project along the Vero Beach and possibly Wabasso <br />Beach shoreline. As a result, staff has identified specific <br />activities (see attached IRC Beach Management Activities Chart) <br />that must be accomplished and staff resources available. <br />ALTERNATIVES AND ANALYSIS <br />Analysis of Staff and/or Consultant Resources to Manage Beach <br />Preservation Program. <br />The Indian River County Public Works Department and Engineering <br />Division currently has a staff/project work load as follows: <br />Public Works Director <br />Management of 6 County Divisions <br />Member of MPO Technical Committee <br />Capital Project Litigation/Implementation <br />Various Committee Liaison (Parks, Firing <br />Range, Beach, Biking Path, etc. <br />New Development Review <br />Miscellaneous <br />Capital Project Manager ( 1 Registered Engineer) <br />Indian River Blvd. Phase 4 <br />Round Island Park <br />CR510/AIA <br />Oslo Road Widening <br />Jungle Trail Enhance t <br />Kings Highway Imprnv nts <br />% of Time <br />Allocated <br />50% <br />10% <br />10% <br />10% <br />10% <br />16% <br />50% <br />20% <br />10% <br />10% <br />5% <br />5% <br />Engineering Division(2 Registered Engineers) <br />County Engineer/Drainage Engineer -Civil Engineer <br />Petition Paving 25% <br />Development Review 25% <br />CR512 Widening 25% <br />Roadway -Design & Misc.
