Commissioner Adams asked what services will be provided under <br />this agreement. <br />Director Pinto responded that this contractor will determine <br />whether we should charge for reuse water, analyze our impact fee <br />structure in relation to the new master plan, and advise us on <br />specific rates for septage and sludge treatment. WHITE <br />FRANCHISE COORD90ATOR <br />DEPARTMENT OF UTILITY SERVICES <br />SUBJ CT: GENERAL DEVELOPMENT UTILITIES, INC.j, WATER AND SEWER <br />RATE INCREASE REQUEST <br />REQUEST TO SET PUBLIC HEARING DATE <br />BACKGROUND: <br />On May 18, 1993, the Board of County Commissioners approved an <br />agreement with Rachlin & Cohen of Miami,, Florida, to review a water <br />and sewer rate increase package from General Development Utilities,, <br />Inc. (GDU),, which was received in this office on May 3,, 1993 (see <br />attached agenda item). If approved, an average bill for residential <br />customers in the Indian River County GDU franchise area will <br />increase approximately 81.5% for water and 155% for sewer. <br />A public hearing must be held within 90 days after f iling of the <br />rate increase request, per the requirements stated in Franchise <br />Resolution 8-3-109 (excerpt attached). <br />34 <br />UL 13 1993 BOOK 89 PACE1051 <br />
