Staff requests that the Board authorize the purchase of the new <br />generator so public safety services to citizens will not be impaired. <br />ALTERNATIVES AND ANALYSIS <br />Pursuant to the definitions and Section 3.11 (C) of the Indian River <br />County Purchasing Manual, an emergency procurement is authorized when <br />there is a threat to the public safety'of our citizens. <br />Staff submits that failure of 911 system equipment constitutes a <br />threat to public safety and that the purchase is necessary to <br />preclude loss of life or property. <br />RECOMMMATION <br />Staff recommends that the Board approve the 80kw generator purchase <br />from TAW Power Systems for the price of $18,574 with funding to come <br />from the 911 surcharge budget since the generator is used for <br />emergency power backup of the 911 system. <br />ON MOTION by Commissioner Eggert, SECONDED by <br />Commissioner Tippin, the Board unanimously approved <br />purchase in the amount of $18,574 from TAW Power <br />Systems for an 80kw generator to be used as an <br />emergency power backup for the 911 system, as <br />recommended by staff. <br />G.
