"Sonny" Dean <br />General Services Director <br />FROM: Jeanne Breset <br />Interim Chieffic Engineer <br />SUBJECT: Traffic Engineering Award Bid #4032 <br />Construction Services for Installation of <br />Traffic Control Devices <br />DATE: December 14, 1993 <br />DESCRIPTION AND CONDITIONS <br />The Indian River County Traffic Engineering Division is not equipped to <br />perform every aspect of installing traffic signals cost effectively, <br />therefore the Public Works Department advertised for competitive bids <br />for a contractor to perform traffic signal installations (concrete <br />strain poles, equipment, etc.) to meet the demand of present and <br />upcoming signalization projects. We need to secure a contractor that <br />can provide materials for signalization of intersections, construct, and <br />install any traffic control device. Work orders will be issued on an <br />as -needed basis. Although many items were included in the bid, many bid <br />items will not be constructed unless needed. The <br />bid opening date was November 12, 1993. Specifications were mailed to <br />five (5) vendors. Three (3) replies were received. This will be a <br />continuing contract, renewable on an annual basis. <br />•i 1:, . . . 1,110 A <br />Staff recommends - that the bid be awarded to American Lighting and <br />Signalization, Inc. as the lowest, most responsive and responsible <br />bidder meeting specifications as set forth in the Invitation to Bid. <br />The bids were based on various signalization projects throughout Indian <br />River County. Funding will be from individual construction accounts. <br />Various sources of funding (traffic impact fees) will be utilized <br />dependent upon project. <br />10 <br />_ M <br />
