r MAR 2 2 1994 boar 91. f�Au 00 <br />Chairman Bird read aloud the following Proclamation, which was <br />accepted by Walter Biscoe of the Amara Shrine Temple: <br />PROCLAMATION <br />DESIGNATING APRIL 1 THROUGH APRIL 10, 1994 <br />AS "SHRINERS CRUSADE TO HELP CRIPPLED CHILDREN• <br />DRIVE" IN INDIAN RIVER COUNTY, FLORIDA <br />.' WHEREAS, the Amara Shrine Temple, having served over 800 <br />active patients from the counties of Indian River, Martin, St. <br />Lucie, Palm Beach and Okeechobee during the past year through the <br />Shriner Hospitals for Crippled Children, meeting their needs for <br />orthopedic and burn care; and <br />WHEREAS, the Amara Temple is a part of 720,000 Shriners <br />throughout North America that support 19 orthopedic hospitals and <br />3 burn institutes that provide specialized expert care for needy <br />children up to their 18th birthday absolutely FREE; and <br />WHEREAS, this large group of Shriners of North America made <br />this commitment over 70 years ago to help needy crippled and <br />burned victims get the expert long term care they need to have a <br />chance for a healthy normal productive life; and <br />WHEREAS; it is recognized that in order to continue this <br />great service and tradition of caring, it is necessary to enlist <br />the help and support of individuals of the community, and ask <br />them to take a moment to learn more about these hospitals and <br />burn care units so that the public can refer a child needing such <br />services to us; and <br />WHEREAS,.'this request for public support is made only once a <br />year. A free newspaper is given to all, telling of the Shriners' <br />Crusade to help these needy children: <br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE -IT PROCLAIMED BY THE BOARD OF COUNTY <br />COMUSSIONERS OF INDIAN RIVER COUNTY, FLORIDA that April 1 <br />through April 10, 1994 be designated as <br />SHRINERS CRUSADE TO HELP CRIPPLED CHILDREN DRIVE <br />in Indian River County, and the Board further urges all citizens <br />of this county to show their appreciation to the Shriners for <br />their good works both on a local and national level for the <br />benefit of all . <br />Adopted this 22 day of March, 1994. <br />4 <br />BOARD OF COUNTY CONMSSIONERS <br />INDIAN RIVER COUN'T'Y, FLORIDA <br />John' W.
