BooK 92 �, �r 940APR � 9 �9�4 <br />If the additional contract time is approved by the Board, the new <br />contract completion date is January 18, 1994. Substantial <br />completion was issued on February 17, 1994. The Contract Agreement <br />specifies that liquidated damages in the amount of $100.00 per <br />calendar day be deducted from the monies due the Contractor for <br />each calendar day elapsing between the contract completion date and <br />the actual (substantial) completion date. The total amount of <br />liquidated damages for the 30 calendar day delay is $3,000.00. <br />ALTERNATIVES AND ANALYSIS <br />The alternatives are as follows; <br />Alternative No. 1 <br />Authorize Change Order No. 3 in the amount of (-$3,302.09) for <br />a new contract amount of $343,641.83, deduct $3,000.00 in <br />liquidated damages from the final payment for a final contract <br />amount of $340,641.83 and release final payment including the <br />10% retainage. <br />Alternative No._2 <br />Deny authorization of all or any of the items above. <br />RECOMMENDATIONS AND FUNDING <br />Staff recommends approval of Alternative No. 1. Funding is from <br />the Florida Inland Navigation District and the Florida Boating <br />Improvement Program. <br />Commissioner Bird commended staff's ingenuity in obtaining <br />funds under the Small Business Association 1993 National Small <br />Business Tree Planting program. <br />ON MOTION by Commissioner Macht, SECONDED by <br />Commissioner Eggert, the Board unanimously approved <br />Alternative No. 1 as set forth in staff's <br />memorandum. <br />CHANGE ORDER NO. 3 IS ON FILE <br />IN THE OFFICE OF THE CLERK TO THE BOARD <br />BEACH AND SHORE PRESERVATION ADVISORY COMMITTEE - REQUEST FOR <br />AUTHORIZATION FOR AMERICAN COASTAL ENGINEERING TO START <br />MANUFACTURING THE FIRST 1000 FEET OF THE PREFABRICATED EROSION <br />PROTECTION (PEP) REEF <br />Public Works Director Jim Davis explained that the Beach and <br />Shore Preservation Advisory Committee is requesting authorization <br />to issue a notice to proceed to American Coastal Engineering to <br />begin prefabrication of the first 1000 feet of the prefabricated <br />30 <br />
