r <br />erosion protection (PEP)'reefso that the project can be completed <br />this summer. The contract provides for a $240,000 payment with the <br />notice to proceed, and another $240,000 payment for the manufacture <br />of the first 1000 feet of PEP reef._ We received a letter stating <br />that additional information is required, but the committee is <br />confident the permits will be issued as soon as the application is <br />determined to be complete. Councilman Bill Jordan and Ralph Sexton <br />met with Kirby Green of the Florida Department of Environmental <br />Protection (DEP), and he assured 'them that a permit will be issued. <br />We also are waiting for a permit from the U.S. Army Corps of <br />Engineers. <br />Commissioner Eggert asked whether the State is asking for <br />information in addition to the physical modeling study being <br />conducted at the University of Florida. <br />Coastal Engineer Don Donaldson advised that Kirby Green, <br />director of the Beaches and Shores division at DEP, has indicated <br />that a computer simulation will be required if the physical <br />modeling study being conducted does not provide the necessary data. <br />However, staff and the committee are optimistic that the physical <br />modeling study will be sufficient. - <br />Commissioner Adams distributed the following letter from the <br />Florida Department of Environmental Protection (DEP) dated April <br />14, 1994, which was sent to us in response to our request for some <br />assurance from the State that the permits would be forthcoming: <br />Lawton Chile, <br />Governor <br />Florida Department of <br />Environmental Protection <br />Marjory St(►netnan Dm iglas Builcling <br />3900 Commonwealth Boulevard <br />Tallahassee, Florida 32399-30110 <br />April ;14, 1994 <br />Don G.
