As proposed, <br />the application requests a $150,000 grant. These funds . <br />will be passed through to the Indian River County Council <br />On Aging and matched by $150,000. The funds will be <br />used to continue the Council On Aging's Community Coach <br />'(modified fixed route) program and to -increase the <br />Council's demand responsive transportation program. <br />Specifically, funds will be used: <br />• To increase service routes and availability of <br />service <br />• To begin a pilot project for a seasonal Saturday <br />variable fixed route <br />To increase hours of service. <br />A public hearing at which parties in interest and <br />citizens shall have an opportunity to be heard, will be held <br />by the Board of County Commissioners in the County <br />Commission Chambers of the Indian River County <br />Administration Building, located at 1840 25th Street, Vero <br />Beach, Florida on Tuesday, May 24, 1994 at 9:05 a.m. . <br />Anyone who may wish to appeal any decision which' <br />may be made at this meeting will need to ensure that a <br />verbatim record of the proceedings is mode, which • <br />includes testimony and evidence upon which the appeal is <br />based. <br />Anyone who needs a special accommodation for this <br />meeting must contact the county's Americans with <br />Disabilities Act (ADA) Coordinator at 567-8000 extension <br />223 at least 48 hours in advance of meeting. <br />Indian River County <br />Board of. Keating, AICP RAS <br />Community Development Director <br />DATE: May 16, 1994 <br />SUBJECT: REQUEST FOR"AUTHORIZATION TO <br />SUBMIT AN APPLICATION FOR SECTION 9 <br />(URBAN MASS TRANSIT ACT) GRANT FUNDS <br />It is requested that the data herein presented be given formal <br />consideration by the Board of County Commissioners at their regular <br />meeting of May 24, 1994. <br />DESCRIPTION & CONDITIONS: <br />As a result of the 1990 Census, the City of Vero Beach and the <br />densely populated land surrounding the City were designated as an <br />urbanized area. With this designation have come several changes. <br />One was the establishment of the Indian River County Metropolitan <br />Planning Organization (MPO).
