"Sonny" Dean, Director <br />General Services <br />FROM: Fran Boynton Powell, Purchasing Manage <br />SUBJ: Award Bid 14087/1/2 Batwing Mower <br />Utilities Department <br />BACKGROUND INFORMATION: <br />Bid Opening Date: June 15, 1994 <br />Advertising Dates: May 25, June 1, 1994 <br />Specifications Mailed to: Twenty (20) Vendors <br />Replies: Three (3) Vendors <br />VENDOR BID TOTAL <br />Pippin Tractor $ 5,975.00 <br />Ft Pierce, FL <br />Sunrise Ford Tractor $ 61333.00 <br />Ft Pierce, FL <br />Robinson Equipment $ 7,080.00 <br />Mims, FL <br />TOTAL AMOUNT OF BID $ 51975.00 <br />SOURCE OF FUNDS Sewer Utilities Other Machinery and <br />Equipment <br />ESTIMATED BUDGET $11,000.00 <br />RECOMMENDATION <br />Staff recommends the bid be awarded to Pippin Tractor <br />as the lowest most responsive and responsible bidder <br />meeting specifications as set forth in the Invitation to <br />Bid. <br />Commissioner Adams led discussion regarding duplication of <br />efforts and equipment and suggested that Public Works coordinate <br />with Utilities on the purchase of specialized equipment. <br />Administrator Chandler advised that this particular mower was <br />intended f or use in the of f luent reuse areas at Bent Pines. He <br />explained that Utilities personnel maintain areas around water and <br />wastewater treatment plants and effluent reuse areas, and Public <br />Works does rights-of-way, parks, et cetera. <br />8 <br />
