LETTER: Jim Davis to George Hengerer, <br />President, VB Highlands Property <br />Owners Assoc. dated Feb. 1, 1994 <br />DATE: August 2, .1994 FILE: SIM AGN <br />DESCRIPTION AND CONDITIONS <br />The County has received several requests for the four existing <br />lights located along Highland Drive west of US 1 to be re - <br />energized. These lights were not installed when the Vero Beach <br />Highlands Street Light District was implemented, but they were <br />installed by General Development many years ago. I have received <br />permission from Atlantic Gulf Communities to incorporate the lights <br />in the street light district. <br />ALTERNATIVES AND ANALYSIS <br />Staff attempted to contact the property owners association for <br />their approval but received no response. <br />Alternative No. 1 <br />Re-energize the four lights along Highland Drive west of <br />US 1 for approximately $84/year per light. <br />Alternative No. 2 <br />Leave the lights as they are. <br />RECOMMENDATIONS AND FUNDING <br />Staff recommends that the Chairman authorize the Public Works <br />Department to have the four lights re -energized. Funding to be <br />from the Vero Beach Highlands Street Light District at a cost of <br />$84/year per light. <br />ON MOTION by Commissioner Eggert, SECONDED by <br />Commissioner Bird, the Board unanimously <br />approved staff's recommendation. <br />GRANT APPLICATION FOR FLORIDA RECREATION DEVELOPMENT <br />ASSISTANCE PROGRAM FOR PARKS AND RECREATION <br />Commissioner Bird reported that at the last meeting of the <br />Parks & Recreation Committee there was discussion regarding <br />improvements at Gifford Park, West Wabasso Park and recreation <br />facilities --soon to be in the Fellsmere area. He asked Public Works <br />Director Jim Davis to explain what was needed from the Board to <br />assist in preparing grant applications for improvements at those <br />parks. <br />16 <br />August 9, 1994 <br />
