APPROVAL FOR CENTEX ROONEY TO USE GOLDEN SANDS PARK <br />& FAIRGROUNDS SITE FOR OCCASIONAL PARKING <br />The Board reviewed the following memo dated 8/10/94: <br />TO: James E. Chandler, <br />County Administrator <br />FROM: James W. Davis, P.E. <br />Public Works Director <br />SUBJECT: Request by Centex Rooney to Use Golden Sands <br />Park and Fairgrounds Site for Occasional <br />Parking <br />DATE: August 10, 1994 FILE: cmf=.JM <br />DESCRIPTION AND CONDITIONS <br />Centex Rooney, Construction managers for the Disney Florida Beach <br />Resort is requesting the use of 12-15 parking spaces in the western <br />(remote) section of Golden Sands Park and portions of the <br />Fairgrounds site for construction worker parking on workdays only. <br />In return, the company will supply labor to reconstruct the north <br />dune crossover at Wabasso Beach Park. This crossover is scheduled <br />for replacement in October since it is 15 years old and needs <br />extensive repair. <br />ALTERNATIVES AND ANALYSIS <br />Since Centex Rooney has an aggressive construction schedule, <br />construction worker parking will be at great demand during certain <br />stages of construction. Only excess spaces will be used at Golden <br />Sands so that all park users will not be inconvenienced. No public <br />function will be without adequate parking. Public use will take <br />priority. <br />The alternatives are as follows: <br />Alternative No. 1 <br />Instruct staff to prepare a License Agreement to permit <br />the parking. The Risk Manager will require proper <br />insurance and indemnification. <br />Alternative No. 2 <br />Deny the Request. <br />RECOMMENDATIONS AND FUNDING <br />Staff recommends Alternative No. 1.
