Request for Road Closure by Environmental Learning Center for Fourth <br />Annual 5K Road Race <br />The Board reviewed the following memo dated August 25, 1994: <br />TO: James E. William Strange, P.E. <br />County Traffic Engineer <br />SUBJECT: $nvironmental Learning Center <br />Fourth Annual 5K Road Race <br />Request for Road Closure <br />DATE: August 15, 1994 <br />The Environmental Learning Center is proposing to conduct its Fourth <br />Annual "Wabasso Bridge 5K Run" at 8:00 AN on Saturday, November 5, 1994. <br />The 3.1 mile run will start and end at the Environmental Learning Center <br />on Live Oak Drive and will utilize CR 510, the high bridge, and an <br />additional segment of CR 510 west of SR AIA. It is anticipated that <br />between 100 and 200 runners of all ages will participate in this race <br />which is projected to consume- approximately 45 minutes. The race <br />participants will include persons from "8 thru 80 years of age" and the <br />race course will involve the participants running on the eastbound lane <br />on CR 510. <br />The County Traffic Engineer has determined that, one lane of traffic may <br />be closed if one lane is kept open to traffic (alternating eastbound and <br />westbound traffic) from 8:00 AN to 9:00 AN during the race with Indian <br />River Sheriff deputies on duty at both the easterly and westerly <br />Portions of the lane closure.
