Our <br />local membership has thoroughly discussed the proposed elimination <br />of the "Clark II" position. We have voted to approach the Board <br />of County Commissioners in the up -coming budget approval session <br />and voice our concerns why the "Clerk II" position should NOT be <br />eliminated. <br />We acknowledge that the "Clerk II" position was to be eliminated <br />upon the implementation of the automated inspection request system, <br />however, this system in NOT capable of doing ALL THE TASKS required <br />by the "Clerk II" position ( a "human element" is still needed to <br />assist in what the computer cannot do). While the automated <br />inspection system has been an improvement to the scheduling of <br />inspections, we feel that we will face greater delays in obtaining <br />answers to whatever problems or questions may arise during the <br />course of construction. <br />As businessmen ''and businesswomen, the Treasure Coast Builders <br />Association is fully aware of the necessity of staying within a <br />budget and being responsible when it comes to controlling expenses. <br />We also respect the fact that without paying customers none of us <br />would be in business. Delays in obtaining permits, inspections and <br />Certificate of occupancies hinder our draw requests and jeopardize <br />the Construction Industry as a whole.
