BACKGROUND <br />On May 10, 1994, the Indian River County Board of County <br />Commissioners approved and awarded the above-mentioned project to <br />Jobear, Inc., to construct a reuse transmission main. Construction <br />has been completed. The engineer sent a letter of certification and <br />completion to the Florida Department of Environmental Protectiop. <br />The contractor has made application for final payment including <br />Change Order No. 1 (see attachments). <br />ANALYSIS <br />The original contract amount for the project was $627,930.50. <br />Change Order No. 1 lists all changes during the period of <br />construction with the reason for each of the change orders.- The <br />change orders result in a reduction to the original contract in the <br />amount of $8,148.24, which adjusts the new contract amount to <br />$619,782.26. The previous payments made to the contractor to date <br />are in the amount of $534,535.04, leaving a balance (including <br />retainage) of $85,247.22. <br />RECOMMENDATION _ <br />The Department of Utility Services recommends approval of Change <br />Order No. 1 for a decrease of $8,148.24 and the final payment <br />request of $85,247.22 as payment in full for services rendered to <br />Jobear, Inc. <br />ON MOTION by Commissioner Eggert, SECONDED by <br />Commissioner Adams, the Board unanimously approved <br />Change Order No. 1 and final payment request for <br />services to Jobear, Inc. as recommended by staff. <br />CHANGE ORDER NO. 1 IS ON FILE IN THE OFFICE <br />OF THE CLERK TO THE BOARD <br />"PUBLIC SAFETY DAY" GOLF OUTING <br />The Board reviewed a Memorandum dated September 26, 1994: <br />TO: B and of County Commissioners <br />FROM: Char es . rt nac - unty Attorney <br />DATE: September 26, 1994 <br />RE: COMPLIMENTARY "PUBLIC SAFETY DAY" GOLF OUTING <br />John's Island Club, Inc. each year extends an invitation to all membors <br />of public safety organizations to a complimentary "Public Safety Day" <br />golf outing (copy of_ invitation attached). This office was asked if it <br />was permissible for Indian River County public safety employees to <br />accept this free golf outing. It was determined by staff that the <br />employees could not accept this free offer under the County Code of <br />Ethics . A copy of this opinion is attached. <br />In the opinion it was stated that we would bring this staff opinion to <br />the Board to see if this is the type of activity the Board wanted to rule <br />out.
