The
road will have to be closed for the culvert replacement at 33rd Street. Local traffic will have
to be maintained throughout the project.
• Detour routes must be developed and signed by a Professional Engineer and approved by
the County..
• Tim Rose, Timothy Rose Construction — Asked if all the testing was done for the asphalt
mix to determine how many gallons of oil is required and whether cement is required?
• Rich Szpyrka — No. The testing and mixing design will be the done by the successful bidder.
• If the core tests come back as requiring cement the contract will be amended accordingly.
• Tim Rose - Is it ok to use straight rock before we mix, due to the availability of millings.
• Rich Szpyrka — IRC will approve the use of rock as long as it is in the mix design. Millings
are what was anticipated during design and if it is not available the bidder must consider
that during the bidding process.
• Does the 6000 CY of Borrow Excavation (millings) take into account the road being a foot
wider? Yes. That is built in.
• Jennifer Hyde, Indian River County Purchasing — There are a lot of forms in the bidding
documents, make sure you sign everything and have notarized what needs to be
notarized.
• Schedule of Sub -contractors needs to be filled out. List all because these are the ones you
will be held to.
• Rich Szpyrka — Added when references are listed they must include a valid name and
phone number.
• John Ankeny, Indian River County Traffic— Regarding traffic signals, please be advised that
there are three intersections with loops. The County no longer replaces loops we now use
video detection. The County uses Econolite video detectors and Econolite equipment.
• Tim Rose — How is the time lapse handled between the time the loops are broken and the
new equipment is received and installed?
• John Ankeny answered the signals can be put on recall for short periods of time. Also
coordination shall be done between the successful bidder and the County to have the
detectors and equipment installed prior to mixing. Some intersections are being milled and
resurfaced only.
• Any additional questions after this meeting must be submitted in writing to the Purchasing
Department and will be answered in addendum form, to be distributed to all the
participates of this meeting.
• Meeting Adjourned.
ATTACHED: Sign In Sheet
F:\Public Works\ENGINEERING DIVISION PROJECTS\1324 58th Ave Resurfacing (N. of 26th St to N. of 57th St)\4-
Construction\Meetings\Pre-Bid Meeting\1324_Pre Bid Meeting Minutes.doc
