CareerSource EMPLOYMENT REPORT <br />.' RESEARCH COAST April 20, 201$ <br />The unemployment rate in the CareerSource Research`Coast region,, Indian River, Martin, and St. Lucie counties was 4.3% <br />in March 2018. This rate was 0A percentage, point lower than the region's year ago rate of 4.7%.The labor force was <br />277;652, up 2,433 over the year. There ,were 11,830 unemployed residents in the region. <br />ST. LUCIE MARTIN INDIAN RIVER <br />COUNTY COUNTY COUNTY <br />4.6% 3.6% 4.3% <br />The majority of the nonagricultural employment.in the CareerSource Research Coast area was in the Port St Lucie metro area. <br />This metro area accounted for 147,200 jobs in February 2018, an increase of 1,800 jobs from February 2017, (+1:2 percent). The <br />industries gaining in jobs over the year were: education and health services (+800 jobs); trade, transportation,,and utilities (+400 <br />jobs); professional and business services (+300 jobs); leisure and hospitality (+300 jobs); and government (+100 jobs). , The <br />mining, logging, and construction; manufacturing; financial activities; and other services industries were unchanged over the <br />year. <br />The Sebastian -Vero Beach Metro Area February 2018 nonagricultural employment in the Sebastian -Vera Beach MSA was 52,400, <br />an increase'of 400 jobs (+0.8 percent) overthe year. The industries gaining in jobs over the year were: leisure.and hospitality <br />(+500 jobs); financial activities (+100 jobs); and other services (+100 jobs). The mining, logging, and construction; manufacturing;` <br />trade, transportation, and utilities; information; and.government industries were unchanged over the year. The Sebastian -Veto <br />Beach MSA had,the fastest annual job growth rate compared to all the metro areas in the state in other services (+37 percent) in <br />February 2018. <br />k' <br />337 <br />
