Board of County Commissioners Meeting Minutes- Final September 19, 2017 <br />draft minutes of today's County Commission meeting showing the Board's approval <br />this item. <br />A motion was made by Commissioner Solari, seconded by Chairman Flescher <br />declare that it is in the public interest to have vegetative debris from Hurrica <br />Irma removed from private rights-of-way to eliminate immediate threats to ife, <br />public. health, and safety, with the condition that work :on private rights f -way <br />does not commence until such time as the work is approved as eligi a for <br />reimbursement and the required approval is received from the Feo6ral <br />Emergency Management Agency (FEMA). The motion carried b the following <br />vote: <br />Ayer 4 - Chairman Flescher, Vice Chairman O'Bryan, Commi loner Adams, and <br />Commissioner Solari <br />Absent: 1 Commissioner Zorc <br />11.D. 17-0968 Hurricane Irma Recap <br />Recommended Action: <br />Attachments: Staff Report <br />County Administrator on Brown, in his PowerPoint Presentation, gave an <br />overview of events d activities related to Hurricane Irma. Included in his address <br />were details abo the hurricane shelters, power restoration, emergency meal <br />programs by a Salvation Army and Indian River County School Board, the Blue <br />T/Depant's <br />, traffic signal restoration, and some alterations in the Building <br />permitting processes to facilitate homeowner repairs. He described the <br />the storm on County beaches, and announced that Blue Cypress Park was <br />osed due to high water levels: Administrator Brown discussed preliminary <br />private/public damage assessments, and announced that the Florida Emergency <br />Management Agency (FEMA) will be setting up its Disaster Recovery Center at the <br />Brackett Library. He thereafter commended the Emergency Operations Center and <br />other CountyDepartments; Florida Power and Light; City of Vero Beach Electric; <br />Law Enforcement Officers; the Senior Resource Association; Constitutional Officers; <br />community volunteers; and various other entities that provided critical <br />support/assistance to the community before, during, and after the storm. <br />No Action Taken or Required <br />12.
