Board of County Commissioners Meeting Minutes - Final July 3, 2018 <br />due to expire in July 2018. He explained:thai the Firm had spent considerable time <br />setting up and preparing for the United States House Subcommittee on Government <br />Operations' hearing on the private activity bonds that were procured to support the <br />Brightline, and their expenses exceeded the January 2018 contract amount. After <br />speaking on the Brightline's revenues and expenses and its delay in implementing <br />the Positive Train Control safety feature, Attorney Reingold discussed staff's <br />recommendation to authorize an additional $10,000 and extend the contract with <br />McDermott Will & Emery for an additional six months. <br />A brief discussion ensued by the Board, with commentary from County <br />Administrator Jason Brown, about the business plan, financial status, ridership, and <br />prospectivesafety issues of the Brightline project. <br />Attorney Reingold spoke briefly about his trip on the Brightline. <br />Joseph Paladin, President Black Swan Consulting_ and Atlantic Coast Building; <br />spoke in support of staff s recommendation. <br />A motion was made by Vice Chairman Solari, seconded by Commissioner Flescher, <br />to approve staffs recommendation.
