Before removing decking, cutting decking or fastening decking, the Contractor shall <br /> inspect interior conditions under the deck to prevent cutting or damaging the joists, <br /> electrical conduit, sprinkler piping, fixtures and utilities. The Contractor shall ensure <br /> conditions are satisfactory before proceeding with the work, and continuously monitor <br /> interior and exterior work conditions during demolition and construction operations. <br /> C. Commencement of work signifies Contractor's acceptance of conditions. Any defects in <br /> roofing work resulting from such accepted conditions shall be corrected to Engineer's <br /> satisfaction at no additional expense. <br /> D. The following descriptions indicate roof deck corrosion levels by degree. All roof deck <br /> areas are to be inspected and assessed a roof deck corrosion level of 1 through 5. <br /> Following the assessment, the appropriate Remediation Methods shall be conducted. <br /> Remediation methods shall follow the deck corrosion level descriptions. <br /> 1. Degree#1 <br /> a. Red rust on top flange. <br /> b. Dark brown rust scaling ontop flange. <br /> c. Dark brown rust scale removed by scraping/wire brushing to indicate <br /> minor pitting of the metal surface. <br /> d. Deck flutes discolored. <br /> 2. Degree#2 <br /> a. Red rust present on any of the deck surface. <br /> b. Dark brown rust scale present on any of the deck surface. <br /> c. Entire deck sections (flanges and flutes) have been or can be readily <br /> removed during examination or areas of decking are missing, up to 8" in <br /> any one direction. <br /> 3. Degree#3 <br /> a. Red rust present on any of the deck surface. <br /> b. Dark brown rust scale present on any of the deck surface. <br /> c. Entire deck sections (flanges and/or flutes) have been or can be readily <br /> removed during examination or areas of decking are missing, from 8"to <br /> 13"in any one dimension. <br /> 4. Degree#4 <br /> a. Red rust present on any of the deck surface. <br /> b. Dark brown rust scale present on any of the deck surface. <br /> c. Entire deck sections (flanges and/or flutes) have been or can be readily <br /> removed during examination or areas of decking are missing,from 13"to <br /> 24"in any one dimension. <br /> 5. Degree#5 <br /> a. Red rust present on any of the deck surface. <br /> b. Dark brown rust scale present on any of the deck surface. <br /> c.
