Provide the mission statement and vision of your organization: <br />Mission Statement: <br />MHA Mission Statement: To provide immediate access with no barriers to mental health care. <br />"It's Okay to Get Help!" <br />vision: <br />MHA Vision Statement: Individuals will be afforded an opportunity for an improved quality of <br />life through: <br />• access to a continuum of care, <br />• reduced stigma of mental health issues, and <br />• increased integration and acceptance within a community that has an informed <br />understanding of mental health issues. <br />2. Provide a brief summary of your organization, including areas of expertise, accomplishments and <br />servea. <br />The Mental Health Association in IRC (MHA) has been providing services within the county since 1958. <br />The MHA has the Walk -In & Counseling Center and Drop -In Centers programs. There are 3 Drop in <br />Center locations in: Indian River, Martin, and Okeechobee county. The Mental Health Walk -In & <br />Counseling Center offers immediate access to emotional and behavioral health care for the indigent, <br />uninsured and underinsured, and others who may have difficulty navigating the mental health system. <br />This center provides a comprehensive approach to care with individualized treatment. Services include <br />immediate mental health screening to establish needs, information and referral, crisis intervention, risk <br />assessment, diagnostic assessments, individual psychotherapy, family psychotherapy, psychological <br />evaluation, case management, group therapy, support groups, educational classes, psychiatric <br />evaluation, and psychiatric medication management. <br />All ages are served at the Walk -In Center and 71% of the clients who access our programs and services <br />have an income level at 150% of Federal poverty guidelines or lower. 73% of the clients we serve are <br />White, 8% are African-American, 10% are Hispanic, 4% are Unknown, and 1% are Asian. 80% of the <br />clients we serve are adults and 20% are children/adolescents. The Walk -In & Counseling Center accepts <br />Medicare, BlueCross/Blue Shield, Aetna, and several Medicaid HMO insurances. Clients help staff .. <br />evaluate the programs and determine additional unmet needs for the clients and the community by <br />completing client satisfaction surveys. The Walk -In Center program provides services to children and <br />their families in a unique manner. Since July of 2015, the Walk -In Center has had a Wraparound <br />Services Program for families which was designed to meet the needs of all family members, rather than <br />just the identified client. In September of 2015, the MHA began providing mental health services to <br />children in an integrated care setting at the Health Department's Gifford Pediatric Center in addition to <br />providing children's services at the Walk -In Center. Actual and projected service data for the Walk -In <br />Center are reported on the next page for the number of screenings completed, number of unduplicated <br />clients seen, and number of service units provided. <br />143 <br />
