Ventilation Components: <br />Ridge Vent: Shingle -over design as provided by asphalt shingle manufacturer. <br />E. Miscellaneous <br />1. Underlayment Fasteners: Plastic capped nails, V in length with a V diameter <br />head. <br />2. Starter Strips: As recommended and required by asphalt shingle manufacturer to <br />meet specified warranty requirements. <br />3. Shingle Fasteners: Hot -dipped galvanized roofing nail of adequate length to <br />penetrate the deck a minimum of 3/4 inch with 1-1/2" in min length, annular <br />threaded 11 or 12 gauge with a 3/8" diameter head. <br />4. Hip and Ridge Shingle Fasteners: Hot -dipped galvanized roofing nail of adequate <br />length to penetrate the deck a minimum of 3/4 inch with 2-1/2" in min length, 11 <br />or 12 gauge with a 3/8" diameter head. <br />5. Roof Cement: Asbestos free polymer modified trowel grade asphaltic cement <br />meeting the requirements of ASTM D 4586 Type I or II. <br />6. Vent Pipe Flashings: Pre -fabricated, rigid section, high-density polypropylene or <br />other UV -stabilized material. <br />PART 3 EXECUTION <br />3.01 INSPECTION <br />3.02 <br />3.03 <br />A. Contractor shall verify that deck surfaces are dry, free of ridges, warps, or voids and that <br />work penetrating the roof deck, or which may otherwise affect the roofing has been <br />properly prepared. <br />B. Notify Engineer in writing of unsatisfactory conditions. Do not proceed with shingle work <br />until all unsatisfactory conditions have been corrected in a manner acceptable to the <br />Engineer. <br />PREPARATION <br />A. General. All surfaces shall be swept or vacuumed prior to commencement of roofing. <br />APPLICATION <br />A. Self -Adhering Underlayment <br />1. Install per Manufacturer's recommendations except as noted herein. <br />2. End laps to be a minimum of 4", and side laps a minimum of 2". <br />3.
