Handle shingles carefully in hot weather to avoid damaging shingle edges. <br />1.06 JOB CONDITIONS <br />A. Substrate: Proceed with shingle work only after substrate construction and penetrating <br />work have been completed. <br />B. Environmental Conditions <br />1. Proceed with shingle work only when weather conditions are in compliance with <br />manufacturer's recommendations and when substrate is completely dry. <br />2. Contractor shall take extra precautions in temperatures below 40 degrees F. <br />3. Contractor shall protect the deck and building interior from the elements during <br />the course of the work. <br />1.07 WARRANTY <br />A. Manufacturer's Warranty: Manufacturer's standard form in which manufacturer agrees to <br />repair or replace asphalt shingles that fail in materials within specified warranty period. <br />Material failures include manufacturing defects and failure of asphalt shingles to self -seal <br />after a reasonable time. <br />Material Warranty Period: <br />a. Twenty (20) years from date of Substantial Completion, non -prorated for <br />the first ten (10) years. <br />2. Wind -Speed Warranty: Asphalt shingles will resist blow -off or damage caused by <br />wind speeds up to 120 mph. <br />3. Algae -Discoloration Warranty Period: Asphalt shingles will not discolor. <br />PART 2 PRODUCTS <br />2.01 MATERIALS <br />A. Architectural Shingles <br />1. Fiberglass mat, 235 lbs. per sq. (minimum), dimensional, mineral granule surfaced, <br />self-sealing two-ply laminated, asphalt roofing shingle. <br />2. Shingles to meet Underwriter's Laboratory Class A requirements for wind <br />resistance and external fire hazard. <br />3. Shingles shall meet ASTM D 3018 Type 1 self sealing and D 3462. <br />4. Shingles shall be resistant to algae/fungus discoloration. <br />5. Color to be selected by Owner. <br />B. Hip and Ridge Shingles: Mineral granule surfaced pre -fabricated, precut, individual units <br />approved by asphalt shingle manufacturer. <br />C.
