Board of County Commissioners Meeting Minutes - Final September 11, 2018 <br />Attachments: Request to Speak Form <br />Freddie Woolfork, 4590 57th Avenue, provided a short video conveying Waste <br />Management's dedication to the Gifford community as the children prepared for <br />the 2018-2019 school year, and thanked them for their donation of backpacks <br />filled with school supplies. <br />Mr. Woolfork thanked the Board for their continued support of the Gifford <br />Youth Achievement Center, and relayed an update on the 14,000 square foot <br />expansion project, noting that eight (8) classrooms will be added, making space <br />for an additional 200 kids. <br />No Action Taken or Required <br />10.B.3. 18-2249 Request to Speak from Penelope King Regarding FDOT Proposed AIA Road <br />Resurfacing and Sidewalk Construction <br />Recommended Action: Public Discussion Item - No Action Required <br />Attachments: Request to Speak Form <br />Penelope King, 114 Hidden Oak Drive, president of the Bermuda Bay <br />Homeowners Association, spoke regarding the sidewalk construction proposed <br />for 6.74 miles along the east side of Highway AIA through Indian River <br />Shores. She has had discussions with 20 of the 30 community representatives <br />along the path affected, and confirmed that since there is a sidewalk on the west <br />side of the roadway, they were opposed to the sidewalk construction on the east <br />side. However, they were in support of adding two to three feet to the existing <br />bike lane so that there would be a greater distance between cars and bicyclists. <br />Chairman O'Bryan suggested that the public attend the Metropolitan Planning <br />Organization meeting on September 12, 2018 at 10:00 a.m. in Building B of the <br />County Administration Complex, as this topic would be on the agenda. He <br />confirmed that a Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) representative <br />would be present, and discussion would be open to the public. <br />Vice Chairman Solari thanked Mrs. King for her efforts regarding this matter. <br />No Action Taken or Required <br />The Chairman called for a recess at 10:37 a.m., and reconvened the meeting at <br />10:49 a.m., with all members present. <br />C.
