BOOS <br />PROCLAMATION - RECOGNITION OF EMERGENCY SERVICES' <br />EFFORTS IN THE TORNADO DISASTER AT BAREFOOT BAY <br />Chairman Tippin read aloud the following proclamation and <br />presented it Brian Burkeen who accepted on behalf of the entire <br />Emergency Services staff: <br />PROCLAMATION <br />RECOGNIZING THE EMERGENCY SERVICES EFFORTS <br />IN THE TORNADO DISASTER AT BAREFOOT BAY <br />WHEREAS, a tornado touched down in the community of Bare- <br />foot Bay, Brevard County, Florida on November 15, 1994; and <br />WHEREAS,, a mutual aid call was placed from Brevard County <br />for Indian River County emergency services assistance; and <br />WHEREAS, the response of the EMs Division and Fire Division <br />of 'the Department of Emergency Services was immediate and <br />effective; and <br />WHEREAS, these divisions contained elements of the Fells - <br />mere Volunteer Ambulance Service. and the Sebastian Volunteer <br />Fire Department; and <br />WHEREAS, this combined response of professionals and <br />volunteers resulted in aneffort which minimized damage to life <br />and property and earned the heartfelt thanks of the residents of <br />Barefoot Bay; and <br />WHEREAS, it is appropriate to recognize and memorialize the <br />efforts of these men and women who took part in this human- <br />itarian effort, <br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT PROCLAIMED BY THE BOARD OF COUNTY <br />COMMISSIONERS OF INDIAN RIVER COUNTY, FLORIDA, that the efforts <br />of the. professionals and volunteers of Emergency Services who <br />participated in the humanitarian effort to comfort and heal the <br />victims of the tornado disaster at Barefoot Bay are recognized <br />for performing their services in keeping with the highest <br />standards and traditions of emergency medical services and fire <br />services. <br />ADOPTED on November 22, 1994. <br />BOARD OF COUNTY COMMISSIONERS <br />OF INDIAN RIVER COUNTY <br />By <br />e.. .r <br />c `Joh W.
