Public Works <br />G Utilities Services <br />Request to Waive Bid Process for Caustic.Soda Chemical. <br />Recommended Action: Staff recommends that the Board of County Commissioners waive the <br />requirement for bids for caustic soda fior Fiscal Year 2018/2019 and authorize. <br />the Purchasing Manager, .after approval by the.Budget Office, to approve <br />purchase. orders and. change orders for authorized firms up to the available <br />budgeted amount. <br />:Attachments: Staff Report <br />Director of Utility Services; Vincent Burke reviewed the information in his staff <br />report: requesting to waive the bid:process requirement for caustic soda used *for <br />the treatment of water. He concluded that since the price fluctuates for .the <br />chemical, the bid process would not yield the best prices. <br />A motion was made by Vice Chairman Adams, seconded by Commissioner. <br />Flescher, to approve staffs recommendation. the motion.carried liy the.:: <br />following vote: <br />Aye: 5- Chairman Solari, Vice: Chairman Adams, Commissioner Flescher, .Commissioner <br />O'Bryan, and Commissioner Zorc <br />1.2.G.2. 18-2571 Barrier Island.
