Board of County Commissioners <br />Meeting Minutes.- Final January 8, 2019 <br />13.A. 18-2660 2019 Committees Vacancies <br />Recommended Action: <br />The County Attorney recommends that the Board review the applicants' resumes and <br />applications, and determine whether to appoint to Cindi Dixon to fill the "Citizen who <br />represents employers in Indian River County" representative vacancy on the Affordable <br />Housing Advisory Committee; determine whether to appoint to Gerald (Jerry) W. <br />Renick to fill the "Vegetable Industry" representative vacancy on the Agricultural <br />Advisory Committee; and which applicants to appoint to fill the "Member -at -Large" <br />representatives vacancies on the Children's Services Advisory Committee and <br />Economic Development Council. <br />Attachments: Staff Report <br />Applicant for AHAC <br />Applicant for AAC <br />Applicants for CSAC <br />Applicants for EDC <br />01.08.19 CAO Vacancy List <br />County Attorney Dylan Reingold presented the list of candidates applying to fill the <br />vacancies on various County committees; he went on to relay that Eric Menger had <br />requested to have his name withdrawn as a candidate for the Economic <br />Development Council vacancy. <br />Attorney Reingold asked the Board for guidance with a suggestion to modify the <br />appointment process prescribed under Resolution 2011-072. Currently, <br />incumbents have first right of refusal for their position. It was suggested that <br />allowing new applicants to also be considered may avoid favoritism toward <br />incumbents. <br />The Commissioners weighed in with their thoughts on the matter. The Board's <br />consensus was to maintain the status quo as they were not certain there was a <br />compelling reason for change. <br />A motion was made by Vice Chairman Adams, seconded by Commissioner Zorc, to <br />appoint Cindi Dixon to fill the "Citizen who represents employers in Indian River <br />County" representative vacancy on the Affordable Housing Committee. The motion <br />carried by the following vote: <br />Aye: 5 - Chairman Solari, Vice Chairman Adams, Commissioner Flescher, Commissioner <br />O'Bryan, and Commissioner Zorc <br />A motion was made by Commissioner Flescher, seconded by Vice Chairman Adams, <br />to appoint Gerald (Jerry) W. Renick to fill the "Vegetable Industry" representative <br />vacancy on the Agricultural Advisory Committee.
