Service Capacity: Tutorial Program Impact Story - Youth have shown consistence grade level <br />improvements during this calendar year with the help of our board members, parents and <br />volunteers. With the introduction of our "iWonder STEM Lab," our youth have been very <br />anxious and curious to engage into the new adventures of Science and Math. It has been an <br />"academic motivator." <br />Conclusion: We have introduced our youth to many new academic endeavors that has <br />benefitted them academically and socially. <br />ECONOMIC OPPORTUNITIES COUNCIL OF INDIAN RIVER COUNTY <br />2455 St. Lucie Avenue, Vero Beach, FL 32960 <br />Early Bird — Indian River Academy <br />Grant: $20,000 <br />Funds Used: $20,000 <br />Total Children Served: 17 <br />Focus Area Addressed: Early Childhood Development and Parent Capacity <br />GOALS AND OUTCOMES <br />OUTCOME 1 <br />During the 17-18 school year, 17 at -risk, low income children, ages 3 and 4, will have access <br />to high-quality early childhood development experiences in an early childhood education <br />setting, which will prepare them to enter school ready to learn as documented by <br />enrollment records. <br />PROGRESS: The 17-18 school year is complete. We had 17 students in the classroom. All of <br />the children were from the targeted ZIP Codes 32962 and 32968. 9 were Black/African <br />American, 3 were White, 5 were Hispanic/ Latino. Seventeen at -risk families received free, <br />high-quality early childhood education and family support through the Early Bird Program. <br />OUTCOME 2 <br />By the end of the 17-18 School year, 100% of the 17 at -risk, low-income children, ages 3 and <br />4, will improve their health, literacy, communication, critical thinking, motor, and social <br />emotional skills, as measured by Teaching Strategies Gold. <br />PROGRESS: All 17 children were prescreened using the PLS5 and Brigance Prescreen tools to set <br />a base line on their development. Results of the initial assessment indicated 7 of 17 children <br />were meeting or exceeding developmental milestones. A mid-term assessment was conducted. <br />As of midterm, 16 of 17 children were meeting or exceeding developmental milestones. At year <br />24 <br />57 <br />
