DISCUSSION CONCERNING FUTURE OF OLD COURTHOUSE <br />General Services Director Sonny Dean reviewed the following <br />memo dated December 5, 1994: <br />DAT$: DECEMBER 5,- 1994 <br />TO: HONORABLE BOARD OF COUNTY COMMISSIONERS <br />THRU: JAMES E. CHANDLER <br />COUNTY ADMINISTRATOR <br />FROM: H.T. "SONNY" DEAN, DIRECTOa-0 <br />0 <br />DEPARTMENT OF GENERAL SERVICES <br />SUBJECT: OLD COURTHOUSE - DISPOSITION OF <br />e�•�149: <br />On October 11, 1994, staff made a recommendation to the Board as to <br />disposition of the subject structure. At that meeting the Board <br />instructed staff to up -date the 1990 appraisal and provide cost for <br />demolition of the building. This information along with a <br />recommendation from the Historical Society would be brought back to <br />the Board at a later date. <br />The appraisal firm of Armfield-Wagner was contracted to perform the <br />up -date and the following comparison of Market Value is made with <br />their original appraisal: <br />990 <br />$450,000 <br />1994 <br />-$100,000 <br />A copy of the appraisal is provided in the Board's office for <br />perusal. <br />Staff met with Peter Armfield and Dan Nelson of the firm to <br />ascertain why the property had depreciated over the past four <br />years. Attached is a summary of their appraisal and reasons for <br />their findings. <br />Staff contacted Kimmins Contracting Corp. of Tampa, the company <br />that demolished and disposed of the buildings that were cleared for <br />construction of the new courthouse, to ascertain cost associated <br />with demolition of the subject building. The following information <br />is offered: <br />A. Demolition of north and south wings only. <br />1260 tons demolition materials @ $26.00 - $32,760 <br />1134 tons clean concrete @ $6.00 - 6,804 <br />Hauling, demolition, back filling site - 20,436 <br />TOTAL $60,000 <br />B. Demolition of entire structure. <br />2520 tons demolition materials @ $26.00 - $65,520 <br />2268 tons clean concrete @ $6.00 - 13,608 <br />Demolition, hauling and back fill site - 30,872 <br />TOTAL $110,000 <br />39 <br />December 13, 1994 8ooKJ �r,E.? <br />
