THESE SPECIFICATIONS COVER <br />THE OFFSHORE PLACEMENT AND PROVIDE SUPPLEMENTAL <br />INFORMATION AND REQUIREMENTS FOR THE DEMOLITION. IN <br />THE EVENT THERE IS A DISCREPANCY BETWEEN THESE PLANS <br />AND THE SPECIFICATIONS OR OTHER COUNTY SUPPLIED <br />DOCUMENTS, IT IS THE CONTRACTORS RESPONSIBILITY TO <br />REQUEST CLARIFICATION. GENERALLY THE MORE STRINGENT <br />REQUIREMENT WILL PREVAIL. <br />3. ALL METAL RAILINGS, BRACKETS, EXPOSED REINFORCING, OR <br />OTHER FITTINGS SHALL BE REMOVED AS CLOSE TO THE <br />CONCRETE AS PRACTICABLE, WITH PROTRUSION NOT TO <br />EXCEED 6 INCHES IN LENGTH FROM THE CONCRETE IT IS <br />INCASED IN. THE CONTRACTOR SHALL TAKE ALL NECESSARY PRECAUTION <br />TO PROTECT EXISTING STRUCTURES INCLUDING <br />UNDERGROUND AND ABOVE GROUND UTILITIES. <br />AN 811 UTILITY LINE LOCATION CALL (1-800-432-4770) SHALL BE <br />CONDUCTED BY CONTRACTOR TO LOCATE ANY UTILITIES IN <br />THE FACILITY. A KNOWN FPL ELECTRICAL CABLE(S) IS RUNNING <br />ALONG THE WATERWAY BOTTOM JUST TO THE SOUTH OF THE <br />PIER. THE CABLE(S)SHALL BE PROTECTED FROM DAMAGE <br />DURING DEMOLITION OPERATIONS. THE CONTRACTOR SHALL <br />COORDINATE DIRECTLY WITH FPL TO INSURE CLEARANCE AND <br />PROTECTION REQUIREMENTS, APPROPRIATE FOR THE <br />CONTRACTOR'S PROPOSED EQUIPMENT ARE MET. IT IS THE CONTRACTOR'S RESPONSIBILITY TO <br />VERIFY THE POSITION, ORIENTATION, CONDITIONS, ETC. OF ALL <br />PIER COMPONENTS AND DEBRIS PRIOR TO MOBILIZATION. <br />COMPLETE REMOVAL OF THE PILES IS PREFFERED. IF IT IS NOT <br />PRACTICAL OR POSSIBLE TO COMPLETELY REMOVE A PILE, IT <br />SHALL BE CUT OFF AT LEAST ONE FOOT BELOW THE MUDLINE, <br />WITH ALL REINFORCING CUT FLUSH WITH THE CONCRETE. <br />BASED ON CRANE CAPACITY LIMITS, DECK SECTIONS MAY BE <br />CUT TO MINIMUM LENGHT OF 10 FEET. <br />ALL EQUIPMENT INCLUDING VESSELS AND TURBIDITY CURTAIN <br />WILL BE REQUIRED TO FOLLOW PROPER U.S.C.G.
