FLORIDA GEOLOGIC DEPT. SEDIlAENT SURVEY <br />The Board reviewed the following memo dated January 3, 1995: <br />TO: James Chandler - <br />County Administrator <br />THROUGH: James W. Davis, P.E. <br />Public Works Director <br />FROM: Don Donaldson, P.E. <br />Coastal Engineer <br />SUBJECT: Florida Geologic Department Sediment Survey <br />DATE: January 3, 1995 <br />The Florida Department of Environmental Protection Geologic Survey <br />is conducting a joint project with the US Mineral Management <br />Service. This project is to identify sand sources adjacent to <br />Indian River County, Brevard County, St. Lucie County and Martin <br />County. The US Mineral Management Service has committed funds for <br />a five (5) year project. However, the Department of Environmental <br />Protection has not budgeted any funds for the remaining four (4) <br />years of this project. <br />Alternative No. 1 <br />Lobby the Department of Environmental Protection for continued <br />funding for this project so that valuable information may be <br />obtained. <br />Alternative No. 2 <br />Take no action. <br />Staff recommends that the County.Commission write a letter to the <br />secretary of the Florida Department of Environmental Protection <br />requesting that this project be included in next years budget. A <br />draft letter has been prepared for the Chairman's signature (see <br />Exhibit A). <br />No funds are required or requested. <br />ON MOTION by Commissioner Eggert, SECONDED by <br />Commissioner Adams, the Board unanimously <br />approved staff's recommendation as set out in <br />the memorandum. <br />34 <br />January 10, 1995 <br />rm 94 ima 7 <br />
