Board of County Commissioners <br />Meeting Minutes - Final May 7, 2019 <br />Approved staffs recommendation <br />8.J. 19-0392 Purchase of Dive Rescue Dry Suits <br />Recommended Action: Staff recommends the Board declare asset numbers 200990, 201000, 23379, 23380, <br />23381, 23382, 23383, 23384, 23385 and 23386 as surplus, authorize their trade in <br />and approve the purchase of ten (10) DUI PS Select Dry Suits. <br />Attachments: Staff Report <br />Approved staffs recommendation <br />9. CONSTITUTIONAL OFFICERS and GOVERNMENTAL AGENCIES <br />9.A.1 19-0386 <br />Indian River County Sheriff Deryl Loar: State Criminal Alien Assistance Program <br />Receipt of Funds and Request for Payment of Consultant Invoice and Budget <br />Amendment <br />Recommended Action: The Indian River County Sheriff Requests a Budget Amendment Appropriating the <br />$23,573.00 of State Criminal Alien Assistance Program Funds Received from the <br />Bureau of Justice Assistance <br />Attachments: Sheriff Dervl Loar Correspondence Dated 04/30/19 <br />Indian River County Sheriff Deryl Loar appeared before the Board to discuss the <br />State Criminal Alien Assistance Program (SCAAP) which partially reimburses the <br />cost of incarcerating undocumented criminal aliens. With the assistance of <br />consulting firm Justice Benefits, Inc., the Sheriffs Department was able to apply for <br />and receive $23,573.00 from SCAAP to be used for correctional purposes only. <br />Sheriff Loar requested approval to pay the consulting firm, and to have the <br />remaining SCAAP award transferred to the Corrections Operating Expense budget. <br />A motion was made by Commissioner Flescher, seconded by Commissioner O'Bryan, <br />to approve the Sheriffs request for a check in the amount of $4,243.14 made payable <br />to consulting firm Justice Benefits, Inc., and to have the remainder of the SCAAP <br />funds in the amount of $19,329.86 transferred into Corrections Operating Expenses <br />to augment funds needed for inmate care. The motion carried by the following vote: <br />Aye: 5 - Chairman Solari, Vice Chairman Adams, Commissioner Flescher, Commissioner <br />O'Bryan, and Commissioner Zorc <br />10. PUBLIC ITEMS <br />A.
