Board of County Commissioners <br />Meeting Minutes - Final May 7, 2019 <br />10.A.1. 19-0347 <br />Recommended Action: <br />Authorization to Submit Fiscal Year 2019 Applications for Federal Transit <br />Administration Grants for Capital and Operating Assistance (Section 5307) and <br />Bus Replacement (Section 5339) (Administrative) <br />Staff recommends that the Board of County Commissioners adopt the proposed <br />resolution authorizing the filing of the FY 2019 grant applications for the <br />Section 5307 and Section 5339 programs <br />Attachments: Staff Report <br />Application for Section 5307 Public Transportation Capital and <br />Operating Assistance <br />Application for Section 5339 Bus Replacement Assistance <br />Resolution Authorizing Applications for FTA Grant Assistance <br />Grant Budget Forms <br />Brian Freeman, Senior Transportation Planner, provided an overview of the <br />GoLine and Community Coach public transit programs in Indian River County. <br />He explained that there were two grants run by the Federal Transit <br />Administration (FTA) which provided most of the capital costs, and some of the <br />operating expenses for the County's public transit system. The FTA requires a <br />public hearing in advance of the County submitting their grant applications, as <br />well as approval for County -provided matching funds. <br />Commissioner O'Bryan sought and received information regarding funding for <br />bus shelters in Fiscal Year 2019. <br />The Chairman opened the public hearing. There being no speakers, the <br />Chairman closed the hearing. <br />A motion was made by Commissioner O'Bryan, seconded by Commissioner <br />Flescher, to approve Resolution 2019-035, authorizing the filing of applications <br />for grant funding assistance from the Federal Transit Administration. The <br />motion carried by the following vote: <br />Aye: 5 - Chairman Solari, Vice Chairman Adams, Commissioner Flescher, Commissioner <br />O'Bryan, and Commissioner Zorc <br />B.
