INDIAN RIVER COUNTY - NORTH COUNTY REGIONAL PARK PAGE 4 <br />AQUATIC FACILITY ROOFING REPLACEMENT SECTION 092513 <br />JUNE 7, 2019 ACRYLIC PLASTER FINISH <br />PART 3.00 - EXECUTION <br />3.01 EXAMINATION <br />A. Examine surfaces for conditions that will adversely affect execution, permanence, <br />and quality of work. <br />B. Do not proceed with work until unsatisfactory conditions have been corrected. <br />C. Verify that surfaces to be plastered are free of dust, loose particles, oil, and foreign <br />matter which would affect bond of plaster coats. <br />D. Examine framing, grounds, and accessories to ensure that finished plaster surfaces <br />will be true to line, level and plumb, without requiring additional thicknesses of <br />plaster. Soffit board surface shall not have irregularities in excess of 1/16". <br />3.02 PREPARATION <br />A. Cover or otherwise protect finish materials subject to damage by plaster. <br />B. Cover and protect all adjacent surfaces from plaster stains, including surfaces which <br />will be covered by other finish materials. <br />3.03 MIXING <br />A. Mix products in accordance with manufacturer's published literature. Refer to <br />applicable product bulletins for specific information on use, handling, application, <br />precautions and limitations of specific products. <br />3.04 APPLICATION <br />A. General: <br />1. Install corrosion proof termination accessories per ASTM D1784 (PVC) with <br />perforated flanges for keying of the base coat at junctures with penetrations <br />such as soffit vents, electrical fixtures, and with abutting walls and columns. <br />Install corrosion proof control joints per ASTM D1784 (PVC) with perforated <br />flanges for keying of the base coat at intervals as required by the soffit board <br />manufacturer. <br />2. Reinforce perforated flanges of accessories with minimum 4 inch (102 mm) <br />wide strips mesh embedded in base coat. Where cement board is used tape <br />joints between boards with minimum 4 inch (102 mm) wide mesh and skim <br />with base coat. Alternatively tape joints with minimum 4 inch (1023 mm) wide <br />mesh embedded in base coat. Allow base coat to dry. <br />3. Install nominal 1/8 -inch (3 mm) base coat by trowel to the soffit/ceiling board <br />surface. Work horizontally or vertically in strips of 40 inches (1016 mm), and <br />immediately embed the mesh into the wet base coat by troweling from the <br />center to the edge of the mesh. Overlap mesh installed at perforated <br />accessory flanges by installing mesh up to the termination bead of the <br />accessory. Overlap mesh not less than 2-% inches (64 mm) at mesh seams <br />and feather at seams. Double wrap all inside and outside corners with <br />
