ITEM 14.A.I, <br />OCTOBER 15, 2019 <br />INDIAN RIVER COUNTY <br />BOARD OF COUNTY COMMISSIONERS <br />INTER -OFFICE MEMORANDUM <br />TO: Members of the Board of County Commissioners <br />DATE: October 9, 2019 <br />SUBJECT: Appointment of Commissioner Joseph E. Flescher to the 2020 Indian <br />River County Canvassing Board <br />FROM: Bob Solari, Chairman <br />The Indian River County Supervisor of Elections office will be conducting a <br />Primary Election on August 18, 2020, and General Election on November 3, <br />2020. As per the Supervisor of Elections (see attached), "If the chair (of the <br />BoCC) is unable to serve (on the Canvassing Board), the replacement shall be <br />one of the Board's members who is not a candidate with opposition in the <br />election being canvassed and who is not an active participant in the campaign or <br />candidacy of any candidate with opposition in the election being canvassed." <br />I am unable to serve due to being an active participant in the campaign of <br />another candidate. Therefore, I'm requesting the Board approve the appointment <br />of Commissioner Joseph Flescher, plus a suitable alternate, to the County <br />Canvassing Board for these elections. Furthermore, I request the Board <br />authorize out-of-town travel for Commissioner Flescher to attend the Canvassing <br />Board Workshop on Friday, October 18, 2019, in Orlando, Florida, plus any <br />subsequent travel directly associated with his Canvassing Board duties, effective <br />through the completion of the 2020 election cycle. <br />Thank you <br />Attachment: Memorandum dated May 30, 2019, from Leslie R.
