Board of County Commissioners <br />Meeting Minutes - Final September 10, 2019 <br />Veteran and City of Vero Beach Councilman Anthony "Tony" Young provided a <br />video of Veterans Memorial Island Sanctuary (Memorial Island) as part of his <br />presentation to honor the local men and women who lost their lives while <br />serving the United States of America. He then spoke regarding the bridge to <br />Memorial Island and his vision of the County assisting in upgrading the bridge, <br />noting that the bridge was built by the County in 1964. <br />No Action Taken or Required <br />C. COUNTY ADMINISTRATOR MATTERS <br />11.A. 19-0835 Hurricane Dorian Update <br />Recommended Action: Provide update regarding Hurricane Dorian event <br />Attachments: Hurricane Dorian Update <br />Emergency Services Director and Fire Chief Tad Stone acknowledged the many <br />people who assisted during the preparation period for Hurricane Dorian. He <br />extended an extra thanks to those who answered the citizens information phone <br />lines, and to Major Eric Flowers for his extensive efforts in keeping the public <br />informed. Chief Stone used a PowerPoint Presentation to show the track taken by <br />Hurricane Dorian. In addition, he told of the various resources that were put into <br />place in an effort to be prepared, including an additional 20 nurses and 4 respiratory <br />Indian River County Florida <br />Page 17 <br />
