IRC-1838 Indian River County <br />Main Library <br />Roof Replacement 01 74 00-1 Cleaning and Waste Management <br />SECTION 01 74 00 <br />CLEANING AND WASTE MANAGEMENT <br />PART 1 GENERAL <br />1.01 SECTION INCLUDES <br />A. The Owner has established that this Project shall include proactive measures for waste <br />management participation by all parties to the contract. <br />1. The purpose of this program is to ensure that during the course of the Project all <br />diligent means are employed to pursue practical and economically feasible waste <br />management and recycling options. <br />2. Waste disposal to landfills shall be minimized. <br />1.02 DEFINITIONS <br />A. Waste: Any material that has reached the end of its intended use. Waste includes <br />salvageable, returnable, recyclable and reusable material. <br />B. Construction waste: Solid wastes including, but not limited to, building materials, <br />packaging materials, debris and trash resulting from construction operations. <br />C. Salvage: To remove a waste material from the Project site to another site for resale or <br />reuse by others. <br />D. Hazardous waste: Any material or byproduct of construction that is regulated by the <br />Environmental Protection Agency and that may not be disposed in any landfill or other <br />waste end-source without adherence to applicable laws. <br />E. Trash: Any product or material unable to be returned, reused, recycled or salvaged. <br />F. Landfill: Any public or private business involved in the practice of trash disposal. <br />G. Waste Management Plan: A Project-related plan for the collection, transportation, and <br />disposal of the waste generated at the construction site. <br />PART 2 PRODUCTS <br />2.01 MATERIALS <br />A. Cleaning Agents: Use cleaning materials and agents recommended by manufacturer or <br />fabricator of the surface to be cleaned. Do not use cleaning agents that are potentially <br />hazardous to health or property or that might damage finished surfaces. <br />PART 3 EXECUTION <br />3.01 PROGRESS CLEANING <br />A. General: Clean Project site and work areas daily, including common areas. Coordinate <br />progress cleaning for joint-use areas where more than one installer has worked. Enforce <br />requirements strictly. Dispose of materials in a legal manner. <br />1. Comply with requirements in NFPA 241 for removal of combustible waste <br />materials and debris.
