Heller, Project Specialist <br />SUBJECT: Award of Bid No: 2020029 <br />Indian River County Main Library Roof Replacement <br />IRC -1838 <br />DATE: <br />June 15, 2020 <br />DESCRIPTION AND CONDITIONS <br />The existing roof at the Main Library was completed as part of the original building construction in <br />1990. Although the roof has survived several hurricanes, including Hurricane Irma in 2017, it has <br />surpassed its functional lifespan and requires replacement to avoid future failure and leaks. As <br />such, County Staff requested a proposal from REI Engineers Inc. for replacement of the roof. <br />Following REI Engineers Inc. completion of design for the new roof, the project was advertised and <br />a bid opening was held on June 3, 2020. Seven (7) qualified bids were received for the project. A <br />detailed tabulation of the bids is on file and available for viewing in the County Engineering <br />Division. The two successful bidders and their respective bids are as follows: <br />Atlantic Roofing II of Vero Beach, Inc. <br />$257,632.00 <br />The Roof Authority, Inc. <br />$287,484.00 <br />Advance Roofing, Inc. <br />$289,190.00 <br />Hi -Tech Roofing and Sheet Metal, Inc. <br />$311,870.00 <br />Vero Beach Roofing, Inc. <br />$313,890.00 <br />Tech Systems, Inc. <br />$325,967.86 <br />Bel -Mac Roofing, Inc. <br />$342,770.24 <br />Atlantic Roofing II of Vero Beach, Inc. is considered to be the lowest, responsive, responsible <br />bidder for the project with a bid totaling $257,632.00. This bid is $239,018.00 below the engineer's <br />cost estimate of $496,650.00. <br />Upon checking references, County Staff, in coordination with REI Engineers, Inc. staff, has <br />determined that Atlantic Roofing II of Vero Beach, Inc. has successfully completed similar <br />construction projects. <br />132 <br />
