DeBlois,`AICP <br />Chief, Environmental Planning <br />RE: Request for Board Execution of an FDEP Grant <br />Agreement for an Indian River County Boater's <br />Manatee & Speed Zone Brochure <br />It is requested that the data herein presented be given formal consideration by <br />the Board of County Commissioners at its regular meeting of April 25, 1995. <br />DESCRIPTION AND CONDITIONS <br />At its regular meeting of September 27, 1994, the Board of County Commissioners <br />authorized staff to submit a grant application to the Florida Department of <br />Environmental Protection (FDEP) for $5,000 to develop a county -specific boating <br />brochure. The County Marine Advisory/ Watershed Action Committee (MANWAC) <br />initiated the idea of a county -specific brochure to provide boaters with an easy- <br />to-use map of manatee protection speed zones in the Indian River Lagoon. <br />Subsequently, staff submitted an application and FDEP approved the $5,000 grant. <br />As approved, there is no out-of-pocket county match for the grant, but in-kind <br />services in the form of county staff time. <br />FDEP staff has submitted the attached" grant agreement for county execution. It <br />is requested that the Board authorize the Board Chairman to execute the attached <br />grant agreement. <br />ANALYSIS <br />The grant agreement provides that FDEP will reimburse the County for design and <br />production of the proposed boating brochure. The agreement extends through to <br />December 31, 1995, and may be -renewed on a yearly basis for a maximum of two <br />additional one year periods as needed. <br />The agreement also provides that it (the agreement) may be canceled by either <br />party with 30 day written notice to the other party. <br />APRIL 259 1995 <br />F J <br />10 <br />
