SAFETY SENSITIVE POSITION <br /> Employees,applicants,volunteers,contractors or sub-contractors who perform or will <br /> perform safety sensitive functions are considered"covered employees"and therefore <br /> included in the definition. <br /> The following positions are considered Safety Sensitive at SRA: <br /> ❑ Transportation Director <br /> ❑ Transportation Fleet Manager <br /> ❑ Drivers <br /> ❑ Mechanics <br /> SAFETY SENSITIVE FUNCTION <br /> This term includes the following actions: <br /> ❑ Operating a revenue service vehicle including when not in revenue service; <br /> ❑ Controlling the movement of a revenue service vehicle; <br /> ❑ Maintaining(including repairs,overhaul,and rebuilding)a revenue service vehicle or <br /> equipment used in revenue service. <br /> Performing such a function includes any period in which a safety-sensitive employee <br /> is actually performing,ready to perform or immediately available to perform a safety- <br /> sensitive function. <br /> SUBSTANCES—PROHIBITED <br /> In addition to alcohol,the following substances are prohibited and will be tested for: <br /> ❑ Cocaine <br /> ❑ Opiates(heroin,codeine) <br /> ❑ Phencyclidine(PCP) <br /> ❑ Cannabinoids(marijuana) <br /> ❑ Amphetamines <br /> Safety-sensitive employees may be tested for any of the five prohibited drugs listed above any <br /> time they are on duty. <br /> SUBSTANCES—LEGAL USE <br /> The appropriate use of legally prescribed drugs and non-prescription medications is not <br /> prohibited. An employee or applicant may be prescribed medication from a physician, <br /> however,if the use of any substance carrying a warning label indicates that mental functioning, <br /> motor skills, or judgment may be impaired,the employee must inform their supervisor and <br /> medical advice must be sought before performing any work-related duties. Alternatively,the <br /> employee must obtain permission to be relieved of safety-sensitive work until the prescribed <br /> medication is no longer needed. <br /> SUBSTANCES—MISUSE OF <br /> The misuse of legally prescribed drugs or the use of illegally obtained prescription drugs is <br /> prohibited and considered prohibited conduct and will be dealt with in the same manner as the <br /> use of all illegal substances. Misuse also includes using medication that is used by an individual <br /> other than the person on the prescription. <br /> 125 <br />
