ALCOHOL <br /> A socially acceptable substance consumed throughout the world,however,when consumed for <br /> physical and mood-altering affects, it is an abused substance which slows down physical <br /> functions and progressively impairs mental acuteness. For the purpose of this policy,alcohol <br /> is an intoxicating agent found in: <br /> ❑ Beverage alcohol <br /> ❑ Ethyl alcohol <br /> ❑ Low molecular weight alcohol(methyl or isopropyl) <br /> ❑ Any beverage,mixture,or preparation,including medications,containing alcohol <br /> PROHIBITED ACTIVITIES <br /> Covered employees are prohibited from: <br /> ❑ consuming alcohol within 4 hours of performing a safety-sensitive function, <br /> ❑ consuming alcohol while performing a safety-sensitive function, <br /> ❑ consuming alcohol during specified"on-call"hours or while"waiting for work", <br /> ❑ bringing alcohol,drugs or drug paraphernalia on SRA building,vehicle or property, <br /> ❑ bringing alcohol,drugs or drug paraphernalia to a client's home or property, <br /> ❑ possessing alcohol or drugs,being impaired by alcohol or drugs,or displaying conduct <br /> that causes"reasonable suspicion", <br /> ❑ possessing in one's body any detectable amount of drugs or alcohol,and <br /> ❑ unlawful manufacturing,distributing,dispensing,possessing,or using alcohol or <br /> any form of controlled substances as defined above,during the employee's <br /> schedule and/or work day,whether or not on SRA business or property. <br /> Any employer having actual knowledge that a covered employee has consumed alcohol within <br /> four hours of performing a safety-sensitive function shall not permit the individual to perform or <br /> continue to perform a safety-sensitive function. <br /> COMPLIANCE WITH TESTING REQUIRMENTS <br /> All covered employees are subject to urine drug testing and alcohol testing as a condition of <br /> employment. <br /> Such testing may be done for the following: <br /> ❑ prior to employment in a safety-sensitive position <br /> ❑ prior to a transfer from a non-safety sensitive to a safety-sensitive position <br /> ❑ for reasonable suspicion <br /> ❑ immediately following an on-duty,FTA-qualifying accident <br /> ❑ for a return to work following an extended absence related to worker's compensation, <br /> light duty, or leave(this is considered to be a pre-employment test) <br /> ❑ randomly <br /> ❑ any other time required by FTA <br /> Procedures used to test for the presence of alcohol or a controlled substance shall be such that <br /> they protect the employee,the validity of the testing process,the validity of the test result and <br /> that the results are attributed to the correct employee. The testing,handling of tests and <br /> confidentiality shall be conducted consistent with the procedure set forth in 49 CFR Part 40, <br /> as amended. <br /> PRE-EMPLOYMENT <br /> All covered employees will undergo a drug test prior to employment at SRA. Failure to <br /> comply, complete a drug test and produce a verified negative test result will disqualify an <br /> 126 <br />
