Proclamation - Healthy Moms Week <br />(On the agenda as Item 7.I.) <br />Chairman Macht read the following proclamation into the record <br />and presented it to Ann Reuter. <br />PROCLAMATION <br />WHEREAS, women's health is essential to the. health of our fami- <br />lies, our communities and our country; and <br />WHEREAS, more than one-third of all women do not obtain basic pre <br />ventive health services like a Pap Test, a breast exam, a <br />pelvic exam or even a physical exam; and <br />WHEREAS, early detection is critical for the effective treatment <br />of cardiovascular disease and breast and reproductive <br />system cancers; and <br />WHEREAS, Planned Parenthood provides nearly three million women <br />with access to comprehensive reproductive health care <br />services, as well as a variety of non -reproductive health <br />related services; and <br />WHEREAS, along with the Planned Parenthood Federation of America, <br />the newly formed Planned Parenthood, Indian River Center, <br />has declared the week of May 14 - 20, 1995 as Healthy <br />Moms Week to encourage mothers to take care of their. <br />needs: <br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT PROCLAIMED by the Indian River County Board <br />of County Commissioners that the week of May 14 - 20, <br />1995 be designated as <br />HEALTH MOMS WEEK. <br />in Indian River County, and the Board urges all the citi- <br />zens of this county to be aware of the importance of <br />women's health needs and the organizations and individ- <br />uals who serve those needs. <br />Adopted this 16 day of May, 1995. <br />BOARD OF COUNTY COMMISSIONERS <br />INDIAN RIVER COUNTY, FLORIDA <br />r r:V "00'. .
