ORDINANCE 95-10 <br />22. Political Sign Regulations. <br />Section 956.15(1) is hereby amended to read as follows: <br />(1) Political signs. No political sign shall be displayed in <br />the unincorporated area of Indian River County unless a <br />county sign permit has been obtained subject to the <br />provisions of this section. A single overall sign permit <br />may be obtained for placement of more than one political <br />si n includinq multiple si ns dis la ed as part of a <br />count -wide cam ai n.'.Placernent of • . •• <br />signs -does, not require a � permit, provided , all; other <br />provisions .f this -chapter are <br />(a) Timing of placement. Political signs may be <br />displayed no more than thirty (30) days prior to <br />the election in which the candidate's name or the <br />issue will appear. Any unopposed candidate in the <br />first primary who will face opposition in the <br />following general election may erect temporary <br />political signs thirty (30) days prior to the first <br />primary, notwithstanding the fact that the <br />candidate's name will not appear on the first <br />primary ballot. <br />(b) Timing of removal. All political signs shall be <br />removed from the premises where they were placed by <br />the candidate, his agent, or the occupant within <br />five (5) days after the election in which the <br />candidate is eliminated or elected or after the <br />resolution of the respective issues by referendum. <br />(c) Removal bond required. Prior to the placement of a <br />political sign, or signs, a bond of two hundred <br />fifty dollars ($250.00) or two hundred fifty <br />dollars ($250.00) in cash shall be posted with the <br />community development department. For each <br />violation discovered, $25.00 of the bond amount <br />shall be forfeited to the countv uv to the total <br />bond amount ($250.00). For each violation <br />discovered, county code enforcement staff shall <br />record the date, time, location and candidate or <br />campaign involved. The security may be forfeited <br />in whole or in part to the county for any the <br />following reasons: <br />1. Failure to remove all signs within the <br />applicable five (5) day period for removal; <br />2. The placement of signs upon any tree, utility <br />pole, or similar object; <br />3.
