Board of County Commissioners Meeting Minutes - Final <br />December 15, 2020 <br />Aye: 5- Chairman Flescher, Vice Chairman O'Bryan, Commissioner Adams, Commissioner <br />Earman, and Commissioner Moss <br />8.A. 20-2208 Checks and Electronic Payments November 27, 2020 to December 3, 2020 <br />Recommended Action: Approve the list of checks and electronic payments issued by the Comptroller's <br />office for the time period of November 27, 2020 to December 3, 2020 <br />Attachments: Finance Department Staff Report <br />Approved <br />8.13. 20-2184 Quarterly Tourist Development Tax Report for the Quarter Ending <br />09/30/2020 <br />Recommended Action:. Accept the report. <br />Attachments: Finance Department Staff Report <br />Commissioner O'Bryan pointed out the tourist development tax monies collected <br />this quarter were comparable to last year, and mentioned the months of September . <br />and October looked to be ahead of last year. <br />Jeffrey R. Smith, Clerk of the Circuit Court and Comptroller, addressed the reasons <br />for the increase in the tourist development tax monies for this quarter being: 1) <br />Hurricane Dorian occurred last year; 2) there was a slight rebound for the quarter <br />ending September 30, 2020, despite the ongoing pandemic; and 3) the efforts of <br />the Clerk's Internal Auditor and staff pursing short term rental properties for <br />non-compliance. He commended Internal Auditor Edward Halsey and Clerk Irene <br />Haas for their efforts in collecting the back taxes from short term rentals. <br />A motion was made by Vice Chairman O'Bryan, seconded by Commissioner Earman, <br />to accept the Quarterly Tourist Development Tax Report for Quarter Ending <br />September 30, 2020. The motion carried by the following vote: <br />I <br />Aye: 5- Chairman Flescher, Vice Chairman O'Bryan, Commissioner Adams, Commissioner <br />Earman, and Commissioner Moss <br />8.C. 20-2186 Dori Slosberg Driver Education Safety Act - Indian River County Traffic <br />Education Program Trust Fund Report - Cumulative Reporting Through <br />09/30/2020 <br />Recommended Action: Accept the report <br />Attachments: Finance Department Staff Report <br />Accepted <br />Indian River County Florida Page 4 <br />
