Healthy Start Coalition Indian River County <br />PARENTS AS TEACHERS <br />Grant: $30,000 <br />Funds Used: $30,000 <br />Total Families Served: 184 adults, 188 children Cost per child: $160.19 <br />Focus Area: Early Childhood Education and Building Parent Capacity <br />Taxonomy Number: PH -6100.3300 Home Based Parenting Program <br />Program Description: Parents as Teachers is home based parenting education. The goal of the evidenced —based <br />Parents as Teachers (PAT) Program is to provide low-income parents with skills to maximize their child's <br />cognitive, social, and emotional development during the most critical period of brain growth birth to three years. <br />Staff will screen children regularly for developmental delays and health issues. The program's long-term goal is <br />to increase children's readiness for kindergarten. <br />Collaboration: Cleveland Clinic Indian River Hospital, Partners in Women's Health, Kindergarten Readiness <br />Collaborative, Moonshot Moment. <br />GOALS/OUTCOMES REPORT <br />Outcome # 1: Parents will increase their knowledge of their child's positive growth and development through <br />age appropriate parenting. <br />Goal Results: 87% Overall <br />• 100% / 40 out of 40 parents/caregivers increased their knowledge of their children's age appropriate <br />development. <br />• 79% / 27 out of 34 parents/caregivers responded appropriately to developmental milestones. Of the 48 <br />parents enrolled, 34 were eligible for the screening, 14 were not yet due for a screening during this reporting <br />period. <br />• 82% / 28 out of 34 parents/caregivers recognize and respond appropriately to the emotional needs of their <br />child. Of the 42 parents enrolled, 34 were eligible for the screening, 14 were not yet due for a screening <br />during this reporting period. <br />Outcome # 2: Parents will improve parenting capacity, parenting practices, and parent-child relationships. <br />Goal Results: 85.5% Overall <br />Of 48 parents/caregivers, and 52 children served; 34 parents were eligible for screening (PICOLLO) and 40 <br />children were eligible for developmental screenings in this area (ASQ-3). fourteen clients were not eligible <br />for a PICCOLO screening and 8 clients were not eligible for an ASQ-3 screening during this reporting period. <br />76%/ 26 out of 34 parents/caregivers increased parent child interaction and age appropriate play activities. <br />(PICOLLO). <br />95% / 39 out of the 41 children administered the age appropriate developmental screening tool increased <br />their language development and communicate needs on an age appropriate level (ASQ-3). For the two <br />children that did not meet this indicator, they both have been referred to Early Steps for service127 <br />
