Board of County Commissioners Budget Workshop Meeting Minutes - Final July 14, 2021 <br />Director Kirwin verified that the chiller at the Gifford Aquatic Center had <br />gone out because the well was not able to reach water, and he indicated that <br />the well had to be re -drilled. <br />Chairman Flescher received confirmation from County Administrator <br />Brown that the lifeguard stations were fully covered and maintained. He <br />indicated a new lifeguard tower had been installed at Round Island Beach <br />Park and was fully funded in the Ocean Rescue Budget. <br />The Chairman called for a recess at 10:36 a.m., and the Workshop <br />reconvened at 10:49 a.m., with all members present. <br />TRANSPORTATION FUND <br />111-214 ROADS AND BRIDGES <br />111-243 PUBLIC WORKS <br />111-244 COUNTY ENGINEERING <br />111-245 TRAFFIC ENGINEERING <br />111-281 STORMWATER <br />21-0670 <br />Attachments: Transportation Fund <br />County Administrator Jason Brown presented an overview of the <br />Transportation Fund Expenses. He went over the staffing additions and <br />changes, referring to the deletion of the four (4) full-time positions from the <br />Road and Bridge budget. He explained that the County would be <br />outsourcing some of the services for the maintenance of the back lot swales. <br />He pointed out that the Gas Tax revenue remained flat at $2,423,633, but <br />had slowly recovered from the pandemic lows; however, he mentioned that <br />as vehicles become more fuel efficient, the revenue source would continue <br />to decline. He announced the total proposed budget for the Transportation <br />Department is $17,161,382, an increase of $578,009. <br />Vice Chairman O'Bryan inquired if there were funds available to add to the <br />Road and Bridge Budget for future road resurfacing. County <br />Administrator Brown mentioned that there were American Rescue Plan <br />(ARP) dollars set aside for improvements, and he planned to come back to <br />the Board at a future meeting with a proposal to dedicate significant <br />Indian River County Florida Page 8 <br />
