RESOLUTION NO, 89- 150 <br />A RESOLUTION OF INDIAN RIVER COUNTY, <br />FLORIDA, BY AND THROUGH ITS BOARD OF <br />COUNTY COMMISSIONERS, CONTINUING TO <br />RECOGNIZE THE INDIAN RIVER COUNTY <br />EMERGENCY MANAGEMENT SERVICES DEPARTMENT <br />TO ACT IN ACCORDANCE WITH THE STATE <br />EMERGENCY OPERATIONS PLAN AND PROGRAM. <br />WHEREAS, Chapter 252, Florida Statutes, State Emergency <br />Management Act, establishes a Division of Emergency <br />Management (DIVISION) and prescribes the powers and <br />responsibilities thereof; and <br />WHEREAS, §252.38, F.S., authorizes and directs each <br />county of the state, through Its Board of Commissioners, to <br />establish a county organization for emergency <br />management and prescribes the power and responsibilities <br />thereof; and <br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE BOARD OF COUNTY <br />COMMISSIONERS OF INDIAN RIVER COUNTY, FLORIDA, that Indian <br />River County, a political subdivision of the State of <br />Florida, in official session assembled this date, does <br />hereby continue to recognize the department Of County <br />government known as the Indian River County Emergency <br />Management Services Department, a Department of Emergency <br />Management, to act in accordance with and In support of the <br />State Emergency Operations Plan and Program; and <br />BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that this department shall exist <br />and be responsible for providing effective and orderly <br />governmental control and coordination of emergency <br />operations in disasters resulting from enemy attack, threat <br />of enemy attack, sabotage, or other hostile action, or from <br />natural or accidental causes, as provided In Chapter 252, <br />F.S. and <br />BE <br />IT FURTHER RESOLVED that <br />this department <br />shall <br />continue <br />to be headed by a director <br />appointed by this <br />Board <br />(on the <br />bases established in previous resolutions) who <br />shall <br />
