3. Division 9 Section "Ceramic Tile Work" for sealing file joints. <br />1.3 PERFORMANCE REQUIREMENTS <br />A. Provide elastomeric joint sealants that establish and maintain watertight and airtight <br />continuous joint seals without staining or deteriorating joint substrates. <br />B. Delete paragraph above or below if not applicable. Revise wording to reflect <br />performance required for both interior and exterior joints. Add specific applications <br />where watertight or water-resistant performance may not be required or attainable <br />with products selected. <br />C. Provide joint sealants for interior applications that establish and maintain airtight <br />and water-resistant continuous joint seals without staining or deteriorating joint <br />substrates. <br />D. All sealants and adhesives used on the interior of the building (i.e. inside of the <br />weatherproofing system and applied on-site) must comply with the following <br />requirements as applicable to the project scope: <br />E. Adhesives, Sealants and Sealant Primers must comply with South Coast Air <br />Quality Management District (SCAQMD) Rule #1168. Volatile organic compound <br />(VOC) limits listed in the table (see the last page of this spec section) correspond to <br />an effective date of July 1, 2005 and rule amendment date of January 7, 2005. <br />1.4 SUBMITTALS <br />A. Product Data: For each joint -sealant product indicated. <br />B. Samples for Initial Selection: Manufacturer's color charts consisting of strips of <br />cured sealants showing the full range of colors available for each product exposed to <br />view. <br />C. Delete paragraph above if colors are preselected and specified or scheduled. Retain <br />first paragraph below with or without above. <br />D. Samples for Verification: For each type and color of joint sealant required, provide <br />samples with joint sealants in 1/2 -inch- (13 -mm-) wide joints formed between two <br />6 -inch- (150 -mm-) long strips of material matching the appearance of exposed <br />surfaces adjacent to joint sealants. <br />E. Product Certificates: For each type of joint sealant and accessory, signed by product <br />manufacturer. <br />G. SWRI Validation Certificate: For each elastomeric sealant specified to be validated <br />by SWRI's Sealant Validation Program. <br />07900-2 <br />
