PUBLIC HEARING - SECTION 9 GRANT MATCH REQUEST <br />The Board reviewed a Memorandum of September 11, 1995: <br />TO: Board of County Commissioners - <br />FROM: Carolyn K. Eggert, County Commissioner <br />Chairman, Transportation Disadvantaged Local <br />Coordinating Board <br />Chairman, Economic Development Council <br />DATE: September 11, 1995 <br />SUBJECT: Section 9 Grant Match Request <br />The Council on Aging, with .the approval of the' Transportation <br />Disadvantaged Local Coordinating Board and through the Economic <br />Development Strategic Plan, the Economic Development Council is <br />asking for a $15,000 D.O.T. Section 9 grant to fund an <br />inter -modal terminal at the airport for the Community Coach, and <br />$5,000 for additional signs throughout the community. <br />This is viewed as both a help to the residents of Indian River <br />County, an encouragement to economic development and to <br />maintaining airline service to Indian River County. The fare for <br />a trip is 50 cents for adults and 25 cents for children. <br />Employment is one of the priorities for transportation <br />disadvantaged also, and jobs are located in that area. <br />Please approve this request. <br />At the beginning of the previous companion item, Commissioner <br />Eggert advised that the $15,000 requested in her above memorandum <br />had been included already in the grant application and the $5,000 <br />requested has been dropped for the present. <br />There was no need for action on this item since a portion of <br />it had been included in the previous item. <br />35 <br />September 19, 1995 <br />.-y <br />BOOK' 6 PAGE130 <br />
