RESOLUTION NO. 74-79#4 <br />A RESOLUTION ESTABLISHING A TASK FORCE <br />COMMITTEE FOR IMMEDIATE STUDY, LOCATIONS, <br />FINANCING AND IMPLEMENTATION OF LOW COST <br />HOUSING; ESTABLISHING THE TYPES OF REP- <br />RESENTATIVES TO CONSTITUTE THE SAID COM- <br />MITTEE; AND DESIGNATING AN IMMEDIATE <br />DISCUSSION MEETING. <br />WHEREAS, the need for the purchase or rental of low <br />cost housing in the City of Vero Beach and Indian River <br />County, Florida, is acute, resulting in extreme hardship <br />for low and median income employees and their families; <br />and <br />WHEREAS, the lack of low cost housing discourages <br />industry from locating in the City of Vero Beach and Indian <br />River County, and one industry presently located therein, <br />The Piper Aircraft Company, is limiting plant expansion, <br />due to the inability of its employees to find affordable <br />housing; and <br />WHEREAS, the economy of the aforementioned area is <br />experiencing a recession and a clear and present need exists <br />to stimulate the building industry, whereby jobs would be <br />created and a flow of money would be realized by the busi- <br />ness community, <br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE BOARD OF COUNTY <br />COMMISSIONERS OF INDIAN RIVER COUNTY, FLORIDA, that the <br />Board calls upon the citizens of Vero Beach and Indian <br />River County and their duly elected officials and the busi- <br />ness community and its leaders to join in an all out effort <br />to seek out and find the solution to the need for low cost <br />housing by establishing a TASK FORCE COMMITTEE FOR LOW <br />COST HOUSING as hereinafter constituted, to commence imme- <br />diately to.study the need; to locate and determine the <br />availability of and the cost of suitable land for such <br />housing; to recommend the most suitable type of construction <br />
