BOOK 96 PAGF6(J5 <br />with the comment that the Medical Society is providing a much <br />needed service and is a great benefit to the County: <br />PROCLAMATION <br />WHEREAS, in 1991 under the leadership of the Indian River <br />County Medical Society and a coalition of the H.R.S. Indian River <br />County Public Health Unit, Indian River Memorial Hospital Taxing <br />District and Indian River Memorial Hospital established the WE <br />CARE Program in Indian River County; and <br />WHEREAS, the WE CARE Program is designed to network with <br />volunteer physicians and other providers to provide medical <br />services to indigent citizens, and there are over 100 <br />participating private physicians in the program providing primary <br />and specialty care; and <br />WHEREAS, the WE CARE Program has a two -fold purpose to <br />provide treatment to patients who might not otherwise receive it, <br />and to alleviate the impact on hospital emergency rooms of <br />patients using emergency rooms for basic medical treatment; and <br />WHEREAS, it is remarkable to demonstrate that voluntary <br />community financial support has been leveraged into health care <br />services donated by private physicians to the County's indigent <br />population. <br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT PROCLAIMED THAT THE BOARD OF COUNTY <br />COMMISSIONERS OF INDIAN RIVER COUNTY, Florida does unanimously <br />recognize and congratulate all providers in the <br />WE CARE PROGRAM <br />for their outstanding support, dedication and commitment to <br />improve the health of indigent citizens of Indian River County. <br />Dated this 21 day of November, 1995. <br />BOARD OF COUNTY COMMISSIONERS <br />INDIAN RIVER COUNTY, FLORIDA <br />K nneth R.
